I practice integrative mind-body medicine in a compassionate and caring environment.

Integrative medicine takes into account the whole person including mind, body and spirit.  Health is defined as wellbeing even in the presence of disease.  Integrative medicine, mindfulness, and life are all about balance.  Achieving wellness, contentment and peace of mind are the path and the goal. Integrative mind-body medicine seeks to help you find a sense of well being through mindfulness and compassion practices.

My Path

I am a board-certified in both obstetrics/ gynecology and integrative medicine.     My medical degree, internship and residency training were completed at the University of Kansas.  Over the past three decades I have practiced in HMO, private practice and community health settings.  I began to see a large disconnect between traditional medicine and true wellness so I decided to pursue the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona with Dr. Andrew Weil.  I was the first Central Oregon physician to complete the fellowship.

I went on to train in medical acupuncture with the Helms Medical Institute and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn.  I have trained in Mindful Self-Compassion, Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting, and the Mindful Schools curriculum as well.
Over the last eight years, I have taught Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion classes as well as mindfulness workshops
I am the author of six children's books on mindfulness and compassion. Mind Bubbles: Exploring mindfulness with kids teaches mindfulness of breathing to children. Heart Bubbles: Exploring compassion with kids teaches children about compassion and self-compassion.   Sleep Bubbles: Using mindfulness to help kids sleep teaches children helpful sleep tools.  Bubble Trouble: Using mindfulness to help kids with grief  teaches kids important skills to work with grief.
The books are for ages 4-8.  Hue's World: A colorful mindfulness tale is a beautifully illustrated picture book about noticing the colorful world around us.  Hue's Rainbow follows Hue's continued adventures with color.
I live in Bend, Oregon with my husband and our two whippets. I love to ski, camp, hike, cook, write, and read.
